These
are a series of commercials, that only ever ran in Auckland,
to launch a new product the agency named Russian Recipe
Bread.
The minimal set and the strange characters came about
not only through a desire to get that austere, behind
the iron curtain look, but because we didn’t have
the budget to do otherwise.
The commercials worked and the launch was a runaway success
for a few months, until problems with the bread (mould
grew on it in double quick time) forced the demise of
the product. The ads are still fun though.
